Public Works

By maintaining our City’s infrastructure and keeping our streets safe for passage through annual transportation improvement projects, stormwater projects, street cleaning, and snow removal program, Leawood Public Works Department is dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of the Leawood community. The Department strives to provide growth and outstanding service to our customers through environmentally and economically sound infrastructure preservation projects.

The City’s Public Works Department is a full service, front-line operational department and serves as first responders in emergency situations where Public Works Services are required.

The Divisions of Public Works provide community services in:

Infrastructure and Maintenance – street and stormwater maintenance, pavement management, facilities and structure. Included in this Division are snow and ice removal and storm damage repairs.

Engineering – engineering design and technical support, stormwater and traffic engineering

Stormwater Management – runoff services, pollution sources, flooding and rules and regulations

With the functional responsibilities of the Department encompassing planning, designing, construction of the City’s infrastructure; operation and maintenance of the City’s stormwater systems, streets and traffic control network; operation and maintenance of City facilities and City vehicles; Public Works projects and services are vital to the growth, sustainability, health, safety, comfort, and quality of life in our community.
