POD / Dumpster Permits
The City of Leawood is Only Accepting Electronic Plan Submittals for Building Permits at this time.*
*Permits and Plans can be submitted to CodesAdminGen@leawood.org along with a completed Building Permit Application Form.
A permit is required for the use of a portable storage container (POD) used for temporary on-site storage. The following conditions must be met in order for the permit to be approved:
- The container must be placed on the drive or personal parking area and does not obstruct any city right of way or interfere with any vehicular or pedestrian circulation.
- Portable storage containers shall never be utilized as permanent accessory structures in any residential district.
- The container(s) shall be no larger than eight (8) feet in width, sixteen (16) feet in length and eight (8) feet in height. No single dimension can be exceeded.
- No portable storage container shall remain at any residential site for more than thirty (30) days.
A permit is also required for the use of a trash dumpster for work not requiring a building permit. The following conditions must be met in order for the permit to be approved:
- The dumpster must be placed on the drive or personal parking area and does not obstruct any city right of way or interfere with any vehicular or pedestrian circulation.
- The dumpster(s) shall be no larger than eight (8) feet in width, sixteen (16) feet in length and eight (8) feet in height. No single dimension can be exceeded.
- No dumpster shall remain at any residential site for more than thirty (30) days.
The permit fee for either the portable storage container (POD) or dumpster is $25 per unit.
A permit application may be obtained in person from the Codes Administration Division at City Hall or by using this permit application.
