Mission

The Mission of the club is to beautify our homes, gardens and surroundings;
exchange ideas in gardening; stimulate and encourage
the love of gardening;
and encourage civic beautification.


History

The Leawood Garden Club is a civic and social organization. It was organized July 27, 1948.

CIVIC: Monetary gifts will be allocated to philanthropic organizations, with approval of the Club, at the April meeting.

The Leawood Garden Group will have Bob Lane, a Master Gardner, speak too our members and guests on the last Tuesday of the month-January 23rd.

Bob has served on the Johnson County/State Master Gardener Hotline for ten-years. Bob has volunteered at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens for 16 years.

Bob will be speaking to everyone on the topic of

‘Native Plants Made Easier.’

If you have a shady spot or a sunny spot, Bob Lane will be able offer just the right plants for the right places!

February 27, 2024 Meeting

The Leawood Garden Club has invited Steve Hess – Designer/Gardner and Business Owner-From the Summer’s Garden. Steve teaches at Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri, and lives in Overland Park.

Steve is the Owner of ‘From the Summer’s Garden’, located in Overland Park. It’s a garden studio and haven for creatives and gardeners. He sells his own artwork year-round ‘by appointment’ but his studio is converted into a unique retail shopping space twice a year.

Steve provides the conceptual ideas, and designs and makes the models. He holds classes and teaches you how to make molds, cast concrete, and hyper-tufa, how to paint and how to assemble items. Look on his website for more information at fromthesummersgarden.com.

Steve will be speaking to our members and guests about,

‘Berried Treasure’.

He will discuss the celebration of homegrown berries for your yard and landscape.
