Leawood Arts Council

The Leawood Arts Council was created in 1995 to promote the Arts for the City of Leawood. The Arts Council is committed to promoting cultural and educational experiences for the community and supports the City’s goal to “grow with distinction.”

Each year the Arts Council provides a full schedule of events such as Art Shows and Receptions, Children’s Concerts, Jazz Concerts, Musical Events, and Community Partnerships, as well as educational outreach programs.

Unless they are held for the purpose of philanthropic fundraising, all programs and projects of the LAC are offered FREE of charge, so that every resident has the opportunity to participate.

The LAC Board is comprised of volunteers appointed by the Mayor of Leawood. However, volunteers are always welcome to help in Arts Council endeavors. LAC supports the Art in Public Places Initiative, the Leawood Stage Company and other local arts organizations such as the Johnson County and Metropolitan Arts Councils.

To volunteer, or for more information on how to become an event sponsor to promote community cooperation, please call the Cultural Arts Coordinator at (913) 663-9157.
