Shelter Rental Information

Facility Permits
A variety of shelters are located within the City's park & trail system and are available for use by the public. The shelters are rented in 5-hour time blocks; 10:00am-3:00pm or 4:00-9:00pm. You may reserve a shelter for the entire day by requesting both time blocks.

Shelters located in City Park -10601 Lee Boulevard

East Shelter House (A) & West Shelter House (B)

  • Shelters A and B may be reserved individually or together.
  • 6 picnic tables & 2 grills.
  • Close to sand volleyball.
  • Close to basketball courts.
  • Drinking fountain nearby.
  • Use portable restroom or Lion's Shelter restrooms.

East Gazebo (C) & West Gazebo (D)

  • Shelters C and D may be reserved individually or together.
  • 4 picnic tables & 2 grills.
  • 2 - 20 amp duplex outlets.
  • Close to drinking fountain.
  • Restrooms at pool building.

Lions Shelter (E)

  • 12 picnic tables & 2 grills
  • 6 - 20 amp duplex outlets
  • Close to playground
  • Drinking fountain
  • Restrooms

Shelters located along Tomahawk Creek Parkway - 117th & Tomahawk Creek Parkway

South Lake (G)

  • 2 picnic tables & 1 grill.
  • Close to fishing at south lake & trail.

North Lake (F)

  • 2 picnic tables & 1 grill.
  • Close to fishing at north lake & trail.

Shelter at Ironwoods Park - 14701 Mission

Ironwoods Park

  • 4 picnic tables & 2 grills.
  • 2 - 20 amp duplex outlets.
  • Close to playground
  • Holds approximately 32 people

Shelter at I-Lan Park - 12501 Nall Avenue

I-Lan Park

  • 4 picnic tables & 1 grills.
  • 1- 20 amp duplex outlets.
  • Restrooms are nearby
  • Holds approximately 32 people
  • Parking is limited

Shelter at Tomahawk Park - 119th & Tomahawk Creek Parkway

This shelter is located near the playground in Tomahawk Park. This shelter is not available for reservation and is used on a first come first serve basis.

General Rules & Regulations:

  1. Shelters may be reserved after January 2nd of the given year.
  2. Shelters must be rented at least one week prior to date requested.
  3. Persons requesting this reservation will be held responsible for the destruction of property. Use, consumption, or possession of any alcoholic beverage is prohibited in all City parks. Sec. 11-211 City Ordinance.
  4. Full payment is due at request.
  5. Permits are not valid until signed and returned to the Leawood Parks and Recreation Department. Rental groups have five business days to return signed permit or reservation will be terminated.
  6. A $5.00 service fee will be charged for all shelter / field rental transfers.
  7. All scheduled rentals cancelled due to inclement weather can be rescheduled, space permitting. No refunds will be given.
  8. Rental groups must be in possession of the permit(s) at time of use.
  9. Rental groups will be responsible for clean-up of facility / field.
